Actress Sobhita Dhulipala has made a mark in both Bollywood and digital entertainment industry. She made her film debut in Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016), directed by Anurag Kashyap, and has since appeared in several notable films including Chef (2017), where she starred alongside Saif Ali Khan and Bard of Blood (2020), a Netflix series. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Tara Khanna in the hit Amazon web series Made in Heaven (2019).
Before entering the film industry, Sobhita Dhulipala faced her share of challenges. In an earlier interview with The Indian Express, the actress revealed that she used to receive criticism for her dark skin tone. Sobhita recalled, “When you are starting out, everything is a battle. I am not from the movies. I remember in my ad auditions I was told many times that I am not gori (fair) enough. There were these things which you see at ad level, where I was told to my face that I am not pretty enough. Not that I was (dejected).” Moreover, she also recalled being unfit as a background model for an audition, and got replaced by a dog.
Sobhita said how she ignored such instances during her early days. “I started thinking how I can be creative, still be a part of this industry because I am really passionate about it and work for it every single day. That’s when you start thinking out of the box, instead of waiting for a brilliant successful commercial filmmaker to discover you. What is in my control is to go for auditions, give my 100 percent.” The actress said.
Her journey into spotlight began when she appeared as a finalist in the Miss India 2013 pageant. Later, her interest grew towards acting and has become a renowned name in the entertainment world. Besides Hindi films, she starred in movies like Kurup, Major, Moothon and Goodachari. Sobhita was last seen in the second part of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan and in the second part of the series The Night Manager.
On the personal front, Sobhita got married to Tollywood star Naga Chaitanya on December 4, 2024 in a traditional Telugu wedding ceremony in Hyderabad. Naga Chaitanya is the son of Telugu superstar Naga Chaitanya, who is the richest South actor with net worth estimated to be over Rs 3000 crore.
