Aditya Chopra once refused to do an action film with Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan is on a roll with back-to-back action series and films lined-up. He will be seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny as a spy alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Besides that, he will also be seen in a new avatar in Baby John produced by Atlee. During the trailer launch event of Citadel, Varun said that only makers from South India are taking notice of him and giving him great opportunities in action.

Explaining his statement, he said, “The reason I am saying this is, during lockdown, I met Aditya Chopra. He and Maneesh (Sharma) were making Tiger 3 at the time. I asked him, ‘Sir, why don’t you make an action film with younger talent. Why can’t you ever cast me?’ I kept pursuing him. He said, ‘Listen, I can’t do that because I give you that budget right now. You’re not at that place where I can give you such a big budget. I texted him and asked him what is the budget. He gave me a figure and said this is the budget to make something big in action.”

He then talked about bagging Citadel and said, “When this opportunity came, I even asked Raj & DK and Amazon about the budget.” Citadel: Honey Bunny will release on November 7.
