Akshay Kumar built excitement among his fans on Saturday by sharing a video on Instagram, hinting at a film announcement on his 57th birthday. The video featured the face of a terrifying creature. Although specific details about the poster remain scarce, several reports suggest that the actor is collaborating with filmmaker Priyadarshan on a horror-comedy, which is expected to be announced on September 9.

Along with the video, Akshay captioned it, “Ganpati Bappa Morya! What could be better than a day like today to hint at something special coming your way. The reveal is set for my birthday. Stay tuned (sic)!” If the rumors are accurate, this will mark Akshay and Priyadarshan’s reunion 14 years after their last film, Khatta Meetha.

Details about the upcoming horror-comedy are still under wraps, but it is rumored to involve black magic, with Akshay Kumar starring alongside three leading actresses. According to a report by Mid-Day, a motion poster for the film might be released on Akshay’s birthday. Filming is expected to commence later this year and will continue through the first half of 2025.

A significant portion of the film is expected to be shot in Hyderabad, with additional scenes filmed in the forests of Kerala, Sri Lanka, and concluding in Gujarat next year, according to India Today. As for the casting, rumors suggest that actresses like Kiara Advani, Keerthy Suresh, and Alia Bhatt could be involved.

Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan revealed that he is beginning work on a horror-fantasy film starring Akshay Kumar, produced by Ekta Kapoor. The film will blend elements of humor with a supernatural theme. He stated, “Now that I am done with my docu-series on the Ram Mandir’s history, my most important project is the one with Akshay, produced by Ekta Kapoor. It’s a horror-fantasy with humor.”
