Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to receive the esteemed Pardo alla Carriera award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. Known for his remarkable contributions to cinema, Khan was recently spotted heading for the event. The award ceremony, scheduled for August 10, 2024, at Piazza Grande, will celebrate his prolific career spanning over 30 years and more than 100 films.
On August 11, Khan will engage in a public conversation at Cinema GranRex, which has been relocated to accommodate high demand and will be livestreamed for global fans. The festival will also feature a special screening of his film Devdas (2002) later that evening.
Past recipients of the Pardo alla Carriera include cinematic legends like Claudia Cardinale and Harry Belafonte. Khan’s recognition underscores his pivotal role in globalizing Bollywood and celebrating Indian cinema’s achievements. After a blockbuster 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, Khan is also gearing up for his upcoming film King, featuring his daughter Suhana Khan.
