Veteran Kannada actor, producer, and director Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath passed away recently due to cardiac arrest. He was 81 years old and passed away in Bengaluru.
Superstar Rajnikanth took to social media to mourn the death of his friend, calling it ‘painful’ and offering condolences to his family. He wrote, “The demise of my long-time dear friend Dwarakesh is very painful to me…starting his career as a comedian, he raised himself up to being a big producer and director…fond memories come to my mind…my heartfelt condolences to his family and dear ones.”
Many people came forward to offer their condolences, including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Dwarakish was born in Hunsur in Mysuru district. He is known for his comedy roles. In a span of 60 years, he had acted in about 100 films and produced and directed around 50 films, which include Mayor Muthanna, Manku Timma, Maduve Madu, Tamashi Nodu, Kalla-Kulla, Pedda Gedda, among others.
He was also associated with Dr. Vishnuvardhan, with whom he collaborated on over 40 films, including Kittu Puttu (1977), Singaporenalli Raja Kulla (1978), Guru Shishyaru (1981), Prachanda Kulla.
Together, they were known as the Kalla-Kulla of the industry.
