BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari called Ramendu Sinha Roy’s statement ‘simply outrageous’.

In my opinion no Indian Hindu should visit the unholy Ram Mandir to offer puja. Only a show piece has been built there (Ayodhya), TMC’s Ramendu Sinha Roy said

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Ramendu Sinha Roy has stoked a massive controversy for calling Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir “unholy” and a “show piece”. His comments enraged BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari who called the statement “simply outrageous”, and said that Roy’s words shows TMC leadership’s respect for Lord Ram.

“In my opinion no Indian Hindu should visit the unholy Ram Mandir to offer puja. Only a show piece has been built there (Ayodhya),” Roy can be heard saying in the video shared by Adhikari.

Posting the clip on X (formerly Twitter), Adhikari said, “Simply Outrageous. TMC MLA of Tarakeswar Assembly Constituency – Ramendu Sinha Roy, who is also the TMC President of Arambagh Organizational District has labeled the Grand Ram Mandir as ‘UNHOLY’. He has also stated that no Indian Hindu should offer Puja at such unholy site.”

“This is the language of the TMC Leaders. He has laid bare the level of respect and regards of the TMC leadership towards Lord Ram,” the Leader of the Opposition in Bengal Assembly added.

Adhikari further said that he not only denounces Roy’s statement, but has also made arrangements to lodge an FIR against “this disgraceful person for his despicable statement which has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus across the world”.

Earlier, TMC’s Satabdi Roy had courted controversy when she said that Lord Ram must be someone “below poverty line”. Her remarks came while taking potshots at the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a video that had gone viral on social media, Satabdi Roy was heard saying. “They (BJP) are claiming that a house is being given to Ram. I was shocked to hear this. They have so much power to give a house to Ram.”

“Ram must be BPL (below poverty line). Likes houses are made for those who have BPL cards, it seems they (BJP) are giving the house to Ram under BPL scheme,” she added.

“If one house each can be given to Ram’s sons, Luv and Kush, then, the work will be complete,” the TMC leader further took a jibe.

In 2019, a video of Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had gone viral, where she was seen getting down from her vehicle after hearing chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and confronting the people who shouted the slogan as her vehicle was passing by.

According to local reports, Banerjee also claimed that people chanting the sacred Hindu chant were criminals, and actions would be taken against them. Around a dozen individuals were arrested for chanting the slogan in front of the CM.
