National Award winning art director, Nitin Desai, passes away


Nitin Desai, a renowned art director, was discovered dead at his N D Studio in Karjat. While the police have yet to release additional information about his death, preliminary reports indicate that he committed suicide. The police have arrived on the scene to conduct further investigation. Nitin is said to have committed suicide at 4 a.m. Police received a call from the studio not long ago. So far, no suicide note has been discovered. According to reports, the art director was in financial trouble and his studio was not running smoothly. However, no confirmation has been received from the police.

Nitin made his debut as an art director with Parinda in 1989. He went on to work on a number of other projects. 1942: A Love Story (1993), Khamoshi: The Musical (1995), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Mission Kashmir (2000), Raju Chacha (2000), Devdas (2002), Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (2003), Dostana (2008), and (2010). Panipat (2019) and Paurashpur (2019) were his most recent Bollywood projects as an art director. He was credited as a production designer in Paurashpur.

During his career, he received four National Awards. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (1999), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2000), Lagaan (2002), and Devdas (2003) are among them (2003). He has also received three Filmfare Awards and worked on the stage design for the awards.

In 2005, Nitin established ND Studios in Karjat. Several popular films were shot at the studio.
