NEW DELHI: The Australian players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect for captain Pat Cummins‘s deceased mother on day two of the fourth and final Test against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Cummins flew home after the second Test in Delhi to be with his mother, Maria.
Cricket Australia tweeted: “We are deeply saddened at the passing of Maria Cummins overnight.
“On behalf of Australian cricket, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pat, the Cummins family, and their friends. The Australian Men’s team will today wear black armbands as a mark of respect.”

In Cummins’s absence, Steve Smith had led the team in the third Test in Indore and guided Australia to a nine-wicket victory after back-to-back defeats in Nagpur and Delhi.
Smith continues to lead the visitors in the ongoing Ahmedabad Test.
