Uttarakhand forest guard linked to killing of tigress transferred | India News

DEHRADUN: Two days after the forest department’s botched “rescue operation” caused a tigress, which had strayed into Almora on Monday, to bleed to death, the National Tiger Conservation Authority has sought a “written, factual report” on the incident.

The Uttarakhand forest department also set up its own probe into the matter. The forest guard whose bullet had allegedly hit the tigress has been attached to another forest range of Corbett.
Chief wildlife warden Samir Sinha told TOI, “As per the postmortem report, there were factors apart from the pellet injuries that led to the tigress’ death. Porcupine quills had ruptured its liver. It had not eaten for the past two days and there were some issues with its kidneys.”
