AC Marriott To Open In Wailea, Maui On April 29th, First In Hawai’i

AC Hotel by Marriott Maui Wailea is coming to the luxury resort town of Wailea in South Maui, the first property of the brand in the Hawaiian Islands, bringing a design-forward, affordable option to town. Originally slated to open last month, the property is now set to welcome guests on April 29th.

General Manager Kaleo Kenui says, “We decided to delay the opening of the hotel so our team can take the time to adjust the hotel’s public spaces to reflect recent social situations and train our team on new safety cleaning protocols.”

Adjacent to the Marriott Residence Inn and across from the Wailea Tennis Club, the new hotel is close to the beach and offers affordable luxury in a contemporary package, with guest rooms in a neutral color palettes, hardwood floors, and comfortable furniture designed to maximize space.

Each room has “smart” lighting and temperature controls with perfectly placed USB outlets. One throughline of the brand is a thoughtfulness around guests’ actual experiences of comfort, which have been manifested throughout the hotel.

Art in the rooms is curated around the culture of Maui and the neighboring islands of Lanaʻi, Kahoʻolawe and Molokini, as Haleakala and, of course, the mighty Pacific Ocean. All rooms have private lanais, ensuring that guests have the privacy, peace and quiet that this slice of paradise affords.

The lush three-acre property has 110 guestrooms and 12 suites, a business center, a fitness area, and an infinity-edge pool with a poolside tiki bar and cabanas, with two versatile outdoor public spaces, AC Lounge® and AC Kitchen. The former is the hotel’s heartbeat, where guests can work and dine with flexible seating arrangements. The open space easily transitions from day to night with locally driven food and artisan cocktails. The latter, AC Kitchen, is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, presenting guests with an international, Hawaiian- inspired menu.

The hotel will follow Marriott International’s enhanced health and safety standards and protocols, including guest and employee face-covering requirements, physical distancing policies, reduced seating capacity for meetings, frequent cleaning of high-touch areas, hand sanitizing stations throughout the hotel, and the use of mobile technology throughout the property.

This new hotel arrival is a welcome addition to the lodging options in South Maui, with rooms starting at $299. With visitor traffic down due to the global pandemic, this is a good time to test the waters with AC Marriott’s concept to provide luxury and hospitality at affordable prices. It stands to be well-received as visitors return to the islands looking for safety, comfort, and aesthetically pleasing surroundings.

It’s within walking distance of The Shops at Wailea and all of the restaurants at other hotel properties in the area, some of the best on the island, not to mention in close proximity to the South Shore beaches, among the most pristine in the world.

AC Hotel by Marriott Maui Wailea is taking reservations now for occupancy beginning on April 29th, with reduced occupancy to ensure guests’ and employees safety and comfort — which is what Maui is known for.
