Karan Johar has been a part of the anthology genre before too. He has teamed up with some of the most renowned directors of the industry to come up with interesting content in this category. Ajeeb Daastaans is his next production in the anthology category which is being churned out by Dharmatic which is Kjo’s sister company, particularly focusing on solid OTT content. Ajeeb Daastaans will h ave a stupendous cast with names like Abhishek Banerjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Inayat Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat, Konkona Sen Sharma, Manav Kaul, Nusshrratt Bharuccha and Shefali Shah. There will be 4 short films just like his previous anthologies which will be helmed by 4 directors, namely – Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan and Kayoze Irani.
The storyline of these short films will be fresh and interesting where the crux of each of the films will focus on shedding light on the third wheel or “other person” in the relationship. It is going to portray the complexities that get heated up or rather a certain calmness that follows because of the third person. Previously the anthology was titled as The Other, when Karan Johar was also quoted saying, “An anthology allows us to bring together diverse creative minds to showcase different facets of the same concept in a unique manner, and Netflix presents these beautifully. The Other is one such film that delves into the various complexities of human relationships. Each director will bring their unique vision to the table, amalgamating in a piece that many viewers across the world will definitely resonate with.”
