2021 Porsche Panamera Preview: What’s New For 2021

Porsche’s entire lineup consists of performance-oriented cars apart from the Panamera which is meant to take on the likes of the 4-door Mercedes AMG GT63, Audi RS7, and BMW M8.

The latest generation of Panamera plays an important role for Porsche as they continue to electrify their brand though hybrid models and even fully electric vehicles such as the all-new Tycan. The latest generation of Panamera, has undergone radical transformation both inside and out which is the major reason behind the spotlight their luxury car has received from enthusiasts and critics alike. The 2021 model offers significant improvements in every department, but the main focus has been laid on the performance aspect which is reflected in the form of numerous new powertrains.

The 2021 Panamera has received subtle cosmetic changes, the most noticeable of which are a new sportier bumper on the front and a revised LED strip on the back that runs across the entire width of the car whilst connecting the two taillights. The GTS version, which is packed with a host of performance upgrades, features prominent blacked-out visual upgrades on the outside that help it stand out from an endless list of versions available for Panamera.

Some minor changes on the interior include a new multifunction sports steering wheel and some other features such as multi-way electronically adjustable seats have been made standard, though, you can upgrade the level of adjustments by paying a little more.

The 2021 Panamera features several changes underneath its skin that enhance its performance level and bring it at par with the brand’s ulta performance-oriented cars. To begin with, the upgraded twin-turbo V8 engine in the Turbo S now produces 620 hp and 604 lb.-ft of torque. This is an increase of 70 hp over the previous V8 fitted to the now extinct Panamera Turbo model. Thanks to a significant increase in power output, the Turbo S sedan and the Sport Turismo can now reach a top speed of 196 mph.

The Panamera 4S E-hybrid offers up serious performance without sacrificing ride quality or efficiency. It’s really the perfect balance of sporty comfort thanks to the twin-turbo V6 engine paired with an electric motor. That generates a total of 552-hp and 553 lb.-ft of torque. This excellent powertrain offers no turbo lag with the presence of an electric motor plus an additional advantage of better fuel economy figures.

The ultimate Panamera is the Turbo S E-Hybrid model which makes a stunning 690-hp and can hit 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds flat.

The improvement in power delivery & output is not just limited to the Turbo S, in fact, the GTS version has also been injected with a dose of an additional 20 horses which takes the total output to 473 hp. Porsche has also tuned the power delivery system and reduced the turbo lag so that the driver can handle all the power instantly and accurately.

All of the performance and contemporary looks are complemented by a set of aides that include PASM (Porsche Active Suspension management system), Porsche Dynamic Control, and torque vectoring, all of which are calibrated to maximize the confidence of the driver at high speeds and around tricky turns. The rear-wheel steering comes as standard on the Turbo S version but can also be availed as an optional extra on any other variant.

It will be particularly helpful in the Executive version due to its elongated wheelbase which makes it harder to maneuver using the standard steering. The optional availability of all-new stickier summer tires, carbon-ceramic brakes, and 21-inch 911 Turbo design wheels for all variants makes the Panamera an enticing option for buyers seeking a sporty yet comfortable sedan or a station wagon.
